Luke Hedley:
Where did you grow up? I grew up on the mean streets of AKC
Where do you live now? I now live on the peaceful streets of Mt Eden / Maungawhau.
What’s your favourite place/environment in NZ? My favourite place to hang out is Queen Street.

What influences your work? I’m influenced by encyclopedias, the internet, dictionaries and dreams.
Who influenced/s your design? Flight of the Conchords, Napoleon Dynamite, Funk and Wagnalls.
How did you get to where you are now? I’ve been into illustration and research all my life, I studied design at Elam and recently I put all those things together and won the AS Colour Little Help t-shirt design competition. Little Help gave me a big help in the form of a grant to get my initial range of t-shirtopedia t-shirts produced.
What are the main themes/concepts that reoccur in your designs? The main theme I’m interested in is the exploration of how and why things are the way they are.
What does sustainability mean to you? Sustainability means trying not to do too many things that if everyone did it would lead to certain doom for humanity.
Describe your work environment? My work environment is a cosy home office looking out to the beautiful Maungawhau and the busy Mount Eden Road.
What is your favourite tool or method? My favourite tool is a pencil.
Where do you hope it will lead to? Fame and fortune.
Where to next for you as a designer/artist? I aim to keep producing more t-shirtopedia designs with the goal of building a world-wide walking encyclopedia. I’m also a filmmaker and have a couple of awesome projects in the works.
