"Stunning symmetry rises from the chaos of the dump"
Andi is a multi media artist working from her home in beautiful Wanaka. She creates 3 dimensional decorative wall sculptures, using cable ties, milk bottles and car inner tubes as her choice of materials. "The whole No 8 wire philosophy inspires me. I like the idea of using something which has either been thrown away or taken for granted and turning it into something desirable and decorative. I am constantly looking at trash and everyday materials to see how they might bend and transform. I love the challenge of turning something ordinary into something extraordinary" Andi's background is in Textile and Surface Pattern Design, gaining a Bachelor of Arts in the UK, there is evidence of this in her work by how she plays with patterns, texture and symmetry. "My work is very labour intensive and repetitive but I find this quite therapeutic, it's like my version of knitting" Andi has recently won The Central Otago Arts Awards with a piece called "Central Bloom". She also recieved an honourable mention at the prestigious World of Wearable Art Awards in Wellington for "Pohutakawa Princess". Andi's works are hand-made to order and delivery time is 7 - 10 days.
