Andrew Hubbard takes pride in designing, both with the customer in mind, as well the environment. With the customer he thinks about changing the paradigm of what coffins "should be like" to how they can play a more positive role, both aesthetically and practically, in a persons last journey. And the second consideration is with the environment. No plastic handles with artificial chrome or gold, no toxic glues or timbers from unsustainable sources... which mostly end up being burned anyway.
Andrew had the idea for this business after his father's homemade casket received lots of positive comment. He chose to make his caskets with bamboo because of its excellent physical characteristics and ability to regenerate rapidly. Also, engineered bamboo is an attractive, sustainable, high-strength replacement for hardwoods. And when cremated Bamboo is cleaner and reduces air pollution.
