"Beautiful textiles inspired by nature, hand-built with ethics."
Born in Fairlie "where it is truly wild, fresh and free" Miranda Brown grew up with the values that are integral to her brand, her art and her business today. As she says "My grandparents had a farm in Pleasant Point - rolling hills and a huge orchid and organic vege garden. Organics was normal back then. We made things - clothes and crafts because we had to and we were naturally creative as a family. Making stuff to sell is in my blood." Conscious Cloth is not just a range of nature-inspired products but a way of doing things ethically. Hand-built textiles, with art inspired by the natural environment of Aotearoa New Zealand, crafted into home-ware and fashion, make beautiful, original, timeless and worthy items. Focusing on merino wool, organic cottons and natural fibres that are made in New Zealand, Miranda is recognised for her creative innovation of New Zealand wool. She was awarded the Judges Commendation as a Trailblazer in her category 2011 by Sustainable Business Network. Her work is collected by Te Papa in Wellington.
