Dissecting New Zealand's flora, examining it under a microscope and reconstructing it in an intense reality never achieved by photo-realists or even hyper-realists, is what drives Nick. He brings his own order to nature, reorganizing the elements, layering, adding incredibly detailed textures, stripping back the colours to monochromatic drama, all adds up to graphically powerful images. The viewer enjoys the works from a distance, but is drawn ever closer to the intense beauty of the tiniest sculptural detail.
From Yorkshire, England and now settled among the the beautiful Waitakere Ranges of Auckland, Nick is surrounded by the diverse range of natural forms that provide him with a ready supply of inspiration..."Much of my current work is about exploring traditional still life subjects and themes using new techniques and workflows. I love the contradiction of creating organic forms using a process that is at its root purely mathematical." 
Nick trained and now works as a graphic designer and his current medium of choice is digital. "My background in design has an inevitable influence on the way that I work in terms of technique and style, resulting in images with a distinctly graphic feel to them. I enjoy playing with contrast, both in colour and the use of light and shade to create images with a dramatic presence."
