Cameron's favourite place is the family bach just past Kaiteriteri that over-looks the Able Tasman. It's hardly surprising therefore that the laid back, paired back lifestyle of the quintessential bach is evident in this Cantabrian's work. Simple, almost plain lines make strong statements. Skeletal frames with earthy natural materials like leather make for functional but serenely beautiful forms. 50's Danish influences are evident, which suits the no nonsense tastes of New Zealanders.
Cameron's also no slouch with a paintbrush in hand and has several solo exhibitions behind him: "My most relevant training was the eight years I spent on ‘the job' in my family's interior design business where a key focus was modeling and overseeing the manufacture of bespoke pieces of furniture." Cameron would like to move into hospitality, particularly bar and restaurant design. Any laid back bar or cafe owners out there interested?
