Academic training gave Tracey Williams a deeply considered approach to creativity; observing and thinking about layered contexts and hidden meanings, even in the most ordinary things. “There are the grand narratives that we define ourselves and society by - like politics and culture - but there’s all these little narratives that lie beneath. I’m interested in letting those little stories unfold.”
Such stories reveal themselves in Tracey’s stunning hand coloured art prints, which interweave emblems of domesticity in stunning decorative designs. In her Keepsake series, ordinary household objects – pegs, knives, forks, even a potato peeler - embellish elaborate silkscreened clothing designs, finished delicately with hand coloured details.
Tracey Williams’ attention to detail shows in her young children’s clothing range too. Originally frustrated by the lack of interesting clothes available for her own kids she started designing them herself. Her unique clothing features vintage cloth cutouts with gorgeous original prints, sewn by hand onto quality cotton tee-shirts. Perfect for the budding art aficionado in your life!
