Inspiration:Assorted Collection is a celebration of the great Kiwi Summer holiday- or my sweet memories of it! The simpletreasures, memories of family moments shared with loved ones seem all the more significant at the moment.This artwork is the most recent in the ‘Insects and Memories’ series where I present memory boxes as archived museum insect collections. Here  are the Chitchat Beetle, Waferwing Butterfly, Krispie Moth, the Cameo_Moth and the Sampler Ladybird. The label reads:” After wintering over in leaf litter the ladybird emerges in summer as red as pohutukawa flower and the Griffins Sampler biscuit box. Given at Christmas and saved for the holiday, it  was such a treat after lunch at the bach- two biscuits each, one fancy one plain; no going down to the bottom layer until we’ve finished the top; columns of chocolate biscuits melted together in to delicious sticky midsummer stacks. Once empty of biscuits the box would house our own collection of rocks, shells, driftwood and holiday moments. Memories treasured here now as if archived in a museum.
