Inspiration: These pieces originate from hand painted fruit & vege signs that I have documented throughout various markets & stalls, then re-composed to produce my own layered sign boards, picking out bits & pieces from each sign.
When the unique, imperfect and quickly hand-painted words are bought together in a structured & layered
composition, it is only then that we see the beauty in the inadvertent ‘drybrushing', layering, rubbing back, painting over, and completely free & practical expression of these sign boards - ironically, these are many of the techniques that artists use today !
I created these unique and informal ‘Market Garden'  signboards as a feature for your own kitchen - and they suit both traditional & contemporary settings.
Available Framed or on Canvas. With the framed option, the image is printed on rag paper (looks &  feels like watercolour paper), and matted with a white photo matt, then framed with a 30mm wide, 25mm deep black or white painted timber frame.
The canvases are printed onto 100% thick cotton canvas, sprayed with a projective UV coating, and stretched onto 35mm deep timber frames, ready to hang. Edges can be printed with black or left white (image doesn't wrap around the edges of the frame).
