Inspiration: A fun and informal collection of common fruit & vege sign boards that we often see at farmers markets, the local green grocer, on roadside trucks and at the sides of many roads. This series of works originate from hand painted signs that I have captured throughout various markets & stalls, then re-composed to produce my own layered sign board artworks, picking out interesting details from each sign.  Each collage is made up from hundreds of layers of textures and content.  Popular Resene paint colours have also been integrated into the compositions to compliment many colour schemes. When the unique, imperfect and quickly hand-painted words are bought together in a structured & layered composition, it is only then that we see the beauty in the inadvertent ‘drybrushing', layering, rubbing back, painting over, and completely free & practical expression of these sign boards - ironically, these are many of the techniques that artists use today. Limited edition of 100, printed onto thick 100% cotton canvas with UV spray coating, stretched over a 35mm timber frame.
