Fine Art Prints on Paper. Taniwha Dragonfly
Description: A handpainted silkscreen print on Plate Bristol Paper. The dragonfly is an acient insect and so I incorporated the Opihi taniwha in to the heas and body of the insect, to give a sense of age/time.
Size: Plate Bristol Paper: W 500mm x H 325mm. Insect image: H 180mm x W 230mm
Material: A handpainted silkscreen print on Plate Bristol Paper
Inspiration: The Opihi taniwha is some of New Zealand's oldest known art- rock drawings in the South Island, and is familiar to many as it was on a postage stamp for many years. I've continued playing with the taniwha theme in the tail. If you look closely I gave included the clothesline image from the Taniwha Soap box to echo the dragonfly's tail markings.
