Inspiration: Our Fair Trader range of cushions are made from wool and recycled blankets, with silk or cotton applique and embroidery.

After the arrival of the pakeha the woollen blanket, along with the musket, fast became highly sought after items. They were traded for land, and many precious taonga, and have become part of our colonial baggage. The images depicted in this collection are icons from our colonial and tribal history, our natural history and our taonga.

Each cushion in this range is individually assembled and hand finished therefore 'one off' or 'one of a series' So designs change depending on the materials at hand, and the ideas Rona is currently exploring.

Fair trade cushions have a woollen front, hemp back and come with a removable inner filled with New Zealand wool. New Zealand designed and hand made in New Zealand.
